Thank You

One of the things that brings me the most joy is writing. And, since the thing that absolutely brings me the most joy in this world is my sweet boy, writing stuff for moms really lights me up.

Sleeping so sweetly
Rising, I kiss you good night,
Bedtime goes so fast.

It strikes me sometimes,
When you place your hand in mine,
Small can be so big.

Laughter ricochets
Joy parading down the hall
Brevity is real.

I tousle your hair,
Kiss your toes and wipe your nose,
Suddenly you’re grown.

You look like your dad,
And that does not make me sad,
Because you are you.

Morning footsteps plod
Elbows, mouth breathing, cold feet
In my bed, then gone.

From the mouths of babes
Sweet truth about life and love
You have no idea.

The luckiest moms
Recognize the too brief gift
Momentary joys.
